Announcing The Passing UK Mito Boss
For Immediate Release
It is with sincere regret that we announce the passing of our beloved stallion, UK Mito Boss. It has been an honor and a privilege for us to have him in our lives. Despite severe bouts with arthritis and stenosis in his neck and hindquarters, UK live covered (and settled) his last mare less than two weeks prior to his death at age 23.

Originally owned by the University of Kentucky, UK was purchased by Tammy (Hornick) Lickliter in 1998. Prior to his purchase, Tammy Lickliter, Ty Hornick, Lisa Brown, Alfred Hewitt and Wendy Livingston exhibited UK, earning 120 points in eight events in only 33 horse shows. He was the winner of the Senior Working Hunter Stakes at the Gold Coast, his last time shown.

UK Mito Boss has received such honors as Ohio Quarter Horse Association- Horse of the Year, two time recipient of the AQHA Big Five Alliance Award (for producing the highest money earning hunter under saddle horse in the nation), Honor Roll Hunter Hack and Green Working Hunter Stallion and is listed in EQUISTATS as 17th on the list of sires of life time earnings of hunter under saddle horses. With only 130 foals on the ground to date, this horse played with the big boys time and time again.

His best girlfriend, Our Careless Miss was named the NSBA's leading dam in 2006. Together they produced several great horses including super stars Hey Monn and Decorated By Mito. These full brothers won back-to-back Congress Hunt Seat Futurity Championships and NSBA World Championships. Other successful horses by UK Mito Boss include, UK Fancy Mito, Turn Away, Buck Em All, Mito Weeper, Webe Sizzlin and Dancin On Mitos.

We would like to thank the Dr. Craig Wood and Dr. Laurie Lawrence of the University of Kentucky, Dr. Brad Luckenbill, Dr. Jennifer Smith and everyone who was a part of our lives over the past 18 years. Truly a gentleman, this special horse will remain in our hearts and with the gift of cryotechnology, his legacy will remain in our pastures for years to come. We would also like to thank everyone for the cards, phone calls and emails. You all seemed to know how I felt about him.

Sincerely,
Tammy Lickliter
